Good decision or no?
Today marks the release of Orisa into the Overwatch world for console and PC players alike. This reveal and release of a new character has been handled much better than some previous character releases (looking at a certain hacker here) opting to slowly introduce players to the concept of a new character through small bits and pieces of news. This kind of reveal encouraged speculation from the community which helped to build excitement, which lead to more activity during testing, and what will hopefully be a well balanced character at launch.
Another big change that is being made, is the announcement, by Overwatch designer Scott Mercer, that Orisa will not be playable in competitive play. This change is being implemented to help keep players from jumping into competitive play with a character they have no idea how to use, which would break up team composition as well as being extremely irritating and unpleasant for your team mates. Orisa will become available after the first week, but this does seem like a good way to encourage players to take things slow and learn the new character fully before trying to force her into the competitive scene. Orisa will be available for all other game modes.
