Finally, somewhere new to rage during PVP!
Dark Souls 3 Final DLC, The Ringed City, is set to release on March 28th, marking the end of the Dark Souls story. But this is not the last bit of DLC to come available for owners of the season pass, or the standalone DLC Ashes of Ariandel. Players who have access to the painted world, were given the chance to unlock a special PVP arena as well, which allowed exclusive Player Vs Player action in 1V!, 2V2, or 3V3. Initially only having the Kiln of the First Flame as an arena, players will now get free access to two new arenas, releasing on March 24th, four days before the drop of The Ringed City.
Both of these arenas will feel similar to players, the first of which is Dragon Ruins. Dragon Ruins is set atop Arch Dragon Peak, and is a multilayered set up, allowing for some diversity and strategy to team based multiplayer. The second arena is the Grand Roof, which allows players to fight atop Lothric Castle, in a layout very similar to where players fight the three Fully Ascended Golden Winged Knights. This arena also has three accessible levels for fighting to take place, which will allow flanking and lots of plunging attacks against your foes.
One of the biggest player complaints with the arena was the difficulty in setting up team plays with friends. Password matchmaking was possible, but limited your particular session to anyone who was using the same password, meaning friends and foes alike all had to be on the same page. This made it impossible for two or three friends to fight together against other players who weren’t part of the group. Because of this, the arena’s biggest use was for one on one fights. This issue will be addressed however with the release of the new new maps, allowing players to set up passwords, and then specify that the chosen password will apply to team mates only. Hopefully this will encourage people to enter the arena together to fight other teams, and will help to reinvigorate the 2V2 and 3V3 playlists.
