And owners of the game are not happy about it…

Gamers who Preordered Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15 from Gamestop were given the 4 player action brawler A Kings Tale: Final Fantasy XV as a special bonus. This was a way to entice players to buy from the video game retailer, and keep them from other retail bonuses, such as the $10 Microsoft gift card you got from preordering a digital copy from Microsoft. Now, just a few short moths later, that special bonus is not quite so special anymore, with the game being set to release on March 1st for everyone, for free.

a Kings Tale: Final Fantasy XV is a four person brawler, similar to Castle Crashers, or the old school Ninja Turtles games. Set 30 years before the events of FFXV, players take control of King Regis and his companions, in order to protect the kingdom. Full of magic, special attacks, and an easy to play multiplayer co-op experience, gamers were generally happy with the bonus. Although now, many feel like they have been cheated out of their bonuses, when they could have ordered from someone else, and gotten a different kind of bonus. While it is understandable to feel that way, this is the chance we take when preordering any kind of game, and situations like this only help to reinforce that rule that so many gamers take to heart…

  1. Pretty douche move by them. I never see much inventive to pre-order games anymore. It simply comes to this. If I know I won’t have the time to play a game on day 1, there is no point in getting it until later on or the price drops.

I think we saw this pretty recently with Titanfall 2, less than a month after release it was half price!
