With the Year of the Rooster event winding down, and everyone scrambling to get the latest Mercy skin, Overwatch’s Jeff Kaplan addressed the new game mode in a new Developers Update. Discussing the addition of a new server browser being introduced into the PTR, Kaplan also discusses the feedback received from fans about CTF, and discusses changes that will be made in order to keep it as a permanent game mode.

In the beginning, Capture the Flag will be a custom game mode, redesigned with (almost) complete customization. Gamers will be able to change things such as flag pick up time, hero abilities, and more. These customization options will be available as part of all custom game modes which will be available through the server browser. One thing that is interesting to note however, is the potential for CTF to be added to regular rotation, possibly as an arcade game mode. Kaplan mentions that the Overwatch team will be playing and watching different game modes as a basis for how to make changes to the game in general.   What this means is that these customized  game modes will be a new form of feedback for the developers to work with. This will be extremely beneficial because it will be an easy way to see what people are enjoying, as opposed to just focusing on the negative things that players comment on various forums online.
