Every year, Activision pumps out a new game in the Call of Duty franchise. This year brought us Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Unfortunately the game was not met with a lot of positive feedback when the trailer dropped on Youtube, leading to Activision scrambling to entice gamers with more reasons to buy this years game. Such attempts including remastering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as well as releasing Classic Multiplayer Maps as preorder bonuses. But it hasn’t played out for the franchise this year, with the player count of Steam being substantially lower than a Triple A game release should be.

Even compared to Rainbow Six Siege which was released almost a year earlier, the player count is 3x higher than Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This does not bode well for the series, and leads to the question. Whats next for the series?
